Step-by-Step Guide to Set Up Model EX6800 a Dual-Band WiFi Range Extender

If you’ve recently purchased a dual-band WiFi range extender similar to the EX6800-type series, setting it up is easier than you might think. These extenders are designed to boost your existing wireless network and eliminate dead zones throughout your home. Follow this simple guide to complete the installation in minutes.

1. Place the Extender at the Right Spot

Start by plugging the extender halfway between your main router and the weak-signal area. Make sure it’s in a location where your router’s WiFi signal is still fairly strong.

2. Power On the Device

Wait for the power LED to turn solid. If it doesn’t, press the power button to activate the device.

3. Connect Using WPS (Fast Method)

If your router supports WPS:

  • Press the WPS button on your router.
  • Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the extender.
  • Once the WPS LED turns solid, your extender is connected.

4. Connect Using a Web Browser (Manual Method)

If WPS is not available or you prefer a manual setup:

  1. On your phone or laptop, open WiFi settings and connect to the extender’s default network name (usually something like EXT or EXTENDER_SETUP).
  2. Open a browser and visit mywifiext.net or the default extender setup URL.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to:
    • Choose your home WiFi network
    • Enter the WiFi password
    • Create a new extended network name (optional)

5. Relocate for the Best Performance

After setup, move the extender to a better location if needed. Ensure that:

  • The extender’s signal LED indicates “good” or “excellent”
  • There are no thick walls directly blocking the router-to-extender path

6. Connect Your Devices

Use the newly extended WiFi network on your phones, laptops, smart TVs, and other devices to enjoy stronger, more stable internet coverage.
