Compact wall-plug WiFi extenders are popular for their simplicity and space-saving design. If you’re using an EX2700-type model or something similar, this guide will help you complete the setup quickly and efficiently.
1. Choose the Ideal Power Outlet
Select a power outlet that is close enough to the main router to receive a stable signal. Avoid placing the extender behind large appliances or inside cabinets.
2. Power It Up
Plug the extender directly into the wall and wait for the LED lights to stabilize.
3. Connect to the Setup Network
Use your laptop, smartphone, or tablet to find and connect to the default setup network (usually visible as EXT or 2GEXT).
4. Open the Setup Page
Launch your browser and type in the extender’s default configuration URL (commonly mywifiext.net).
If the page does not open, try switching to a different browser.
5. Follow the Installation Steps
You will be guided to:
- Select your existing home WiFi network
- Enter the network password
- Confirm the extended WiFi settings
- Save and apply the configuration
After the device restarts, it will broadcast new extended network names for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
6. Check Signal Strength
Most compact extenders have LED indicators showing how strong the existing WiFi signal is. For best performance:
- Keep the LED green (or whichever color indicates a strong connection)
- Avoid red/orange signal levels
7. Connect Your Devices to the Extended Network
